Hi
Have any of you tech savy money savers out there done any research into this?
I have a Roberts Revival iStream internet radio like this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roberts-Revival-iStream-Radio-Internet/dp/B00453EGH6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347781326&sr=8-2
And I love it to bits, it's only flaw is very poor battery life, especially when used as an internet radio.
I like to use rechargeables for environmental and cost reasons.
From some quick research I see there is a huge variation in capacity of rechargeable D cells available. The ones I have in it just now are 7 Day Shop 3000 Mah, which last only around 4 hours. Seems you can get D cells up to around 10 000 Mah, like these ones:
http://www.buyabattery.co.uk/rechargeable-batteries/high-capacity-rechargeable-batteries/high-capacity-rechargeable-d-batteries/ansmann-rechargeable-d-batteries-nimh-10-000ma-pack-of-2.html
But it'd cost 36 pounds just to get four.
Anyone know of a source to get high capacity rechargeables at a good price?
cheers

I do quite a bit of semi-professional sound work, and we run our microphones on rechargeable batteries. The Annsmann batteries are expensive, but we find them very good. And they do seem to have the capacity they say (unlike some).
I usually buy from tantronics, but your source seems slightly cheaper.0 -
Definitely go for the 10000 mah Ansmann (german brand), they are amongst the best for quality. I've their 2500 mah MaxE AA size (eneloop type) and they last for ages in my digital camera.
The 10000 mah get very good reviews on Amazon Germany:

Also i *think* Picstop are selling a pack of 4 Ansmann's for £30 delivered. At the top it says "pack of 2" but in the description it says "pack of 4", i suspect its the latter for that price but call them for clarification.

Another vote for the Ansmann batteries.
I take it that you can't plug it into the mains for some reason, no power point or because the radio goes where you do.
I've got a 30 year old Roberts LW/MW/FM radio that moves about the house with me. It use a huge 9v PP9 that seem to last for ever.
I think the time has come for me to retire it and buy something like yours with DAB and WiFi. I do have a DAB radio but it's only a cheap one that I use to listen to 4Extra. :rotfl:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

I can't see where it says that you get 4, I thought you'd found a bargain for a minute but I don't think you have, I think that's the price for 2. :eek:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Eneloop get a lot of credit on camera sites. Having experienced using them I can understand why.
I find this site to be very professional and reasonably priced.

Yes it does say four
This high power Ansmann D 10000mAh NiMH rechargeable battery comes as a pack of four batteries. The Ansmann cells will typically deliver a greater capacity than similar sized cells from other manufacturers, no memory effect and are rechargeable up to approximately 1000 times.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -

Look in 'quick overview' in middle of page:This high power Ansmann D 10000mAh NiMH rechargeable battery comes as a pack of four batteries. of course it could be a typo but only one way to found out!
Edit: Ooops Guardsman beat me to it. Also via play.com Picstop are selling 2 for £20 so it looks highly likely that £30 would be for 4 ( 2 x 2 packs most likely)
