Hi all,
Myself and my wife are visiting Edinburgh for a 2 night city break soon and we decided to go with FlyBE but have only got the hand luggage option which is 10KG it says on the website which am not sure if this is per person or not as it does not say.
My next question is what is the best way to travel and pack with just hand luggage. We was thinking of taking 1 sports rucksack each and to travel as lite as we can. What items cannot be taken in hand luggage and is the liquid amount 100ml total per person.
Chris

Travelling in the UK can be a problem due to the massive amount of warm waterproof clothing needed so it is best to wear as much of this as possible.
The main problem can be footwear which can be heavy and big in relation to the size of your bag. Reduce this to a minimum and wear the biggest and heaviest. I wear industrial footwear wherever I go with steel toe caps (last forever for £12) and take Crocs (or lookalikes) for the beach. Not joking btw.0 -
I plan to wear my jeans and heavy stuff on me and take a coat as well.
I only wear one pair of shoes as well.
How does liquids work is it 100ml max per person or a containor no more than 100ml but u can have a few of these.

You can have as many containers of up to 100ml each as you like provided they all fit into a 20x20 (?) ziplock bag.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Well if you'r staying in a hotel, presumably they supply some basic toiletries which would be ok for 2 nights.
Otherwise take a small bar of soap instead of shower gel, sachets of shampoo often free in magazines don't take up much space either. Body Shop do a solid shampoo and conditioner ( like a tablet of soap) which lasts for ages and again doesn't count as a liquid.
Pop in your dentist and ask if they have a sample size toothpaste you can have to try for free.
If you're not so bothered about cost, you can always buy toiletries in Boots once through security and avoid the restricton, but rememeber you wouldn't be able to bring them back if you exceeded your allowance.
I have a carry-on Sub OG case, which is great. It has 2 side zip compartments, which means I don't need a handbag for travelling. I slide what I would have in my handbag into the outer zip pockets instead, along with a small empty carrier bag to transfer purse, book, glasses etc into on the plane while my case is stowed away.
10kg is fine for 2 days away if you wear your heavier/bulkier stuff for travelling.0 -
The answers to these three questions appear to be answered on their website...chrisb1357 wrote: »10KG it says on the website which am not sure if this is per person or not as it does not say.

The hotel may allow you to drop off your luggage before check-in time and store it in a locked room for you.
Might be worth asking them if it's possible to do that to save you lugging your rucksacks about.
We did that in a Dublin hotel.0 -
We bought from Home Bargins some rucksacks which are the exact size that Ryan Air allow - I think they were rrp £24.99 but £9.99 each. Ryan air had some crates in the departure area and they got people to put their bags into the crates to check the size (if their bags looked big), but I didn't see them check the weight of anyone's hand luggage. We managed to take enough stuff for a 2 week holiday in spain - just bought all our toiletries when we got there as you are limited on how much liquid you can take on board.0

Me and my OH went to NY for 4 days and took only hand luggage (but bought suitcases back)
I wore jeans boots jumper and coat there.
Took a pair of trainers in my bag another pair of jeans, underwear, socks t shirts and jumpers and it all fitted in a medium sized bag0
