Hi All,
Just a quick question as I have be reading lots and still confused
My husband has just received a letter letting him know he has been put into the WRAG for ESA.
The letter says he is entitles to both contribution and income related ESA.
Now to my questions.
I have been offered(and am going to take) a job contracted at 21 hours a week at NMW.
How will this affect my husbands ESA?
Will it be the £20 disregard from my wage, then whatever is left is taken from his ESA?
Sorry if they seem silly questions but I've read so much over the past few days and still very confused as to what's what:o

It will wipe out any income based ESA he has.
His contributionnESA remains. (The single persons amount)
However, his entitlement to contribution based ESA in the work related group is only one year.
If he is arguably entitled to the support group, it may be worth appealing his, for the future.0 -
Thank you for your answer Roger.rogerblack wrote: »

He was awarded his ESA without an assessment. He was transferred from IB.
If he was to appeal but was unsuccessful would he lose any entitlement all together? Or would he just stay in the group he has been put into?0 -
It is possible, but it is very unlikely, to be found Fit for Work he would have to attend a WC Assessment.0

Are you getting other benefits apart from the ESA (e.g.housing benefit and council tax benefit) as these could be affected if he loses the income related component?
Try the benefits calculator to check. http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx0 -
