Pond help required

Water straight from the tap contains chlorine. Fill a can or two with water and allow to stand for 24 hours to allow the chemicals to evaporate, then add to the pond. A good system is to add the water to the pond in the evening, refill the containers immediately and allow to stand for 24 hours until the next evening. Our dream has come true...0 -
Whoopsie, we once emptied our pond for a good clean (that's when I learned of the existence of newts), re-filled it with tap water and plonked all the fish newts, some mud and bugs and plants straight in. All were well though.:wall:0

Hi there,
thanks for all your replies-I was surprised to see them all so quickly. I think I will have a go at the bucket of water standing for 24 hours as it is no where near a hosepipe. Don't want all the wrigglies to suffer from too little water, so that is the plan for today-fill some buckets
cheers guys, mocolo0 -
You dont say how big your pond is
A couple of buckets probably wont make much difference to the levels on a medium size pond.
Another good way to get the chlorine out quickly is to put the water in a plastic container and thrash it about a bit...and then tip the water into a large water butt.
I used to do it with large plastic water carriers...a bit like jerry cans.

Hi TT,
Its really tiny-so the drop in level seems really obvious to me and a couple of buckets will have a big impact on it . The buckets are going in this evening as per previous instructions. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the tip about the plastic containers. This forum doesn't cease to amaze me-what you learn about!
