How long should I wait for a response?

Hello,
I had a listing on ebay that ended on Sunday that was for some large furniture items so I do need them out of my house asap. The winning bidder e-mailed me a few hours after the listing ended and asked me what the latest date they can collect is. This worried me as it sounds like they aren't keen on collecting any time soon. I replied stating that I would prefer asap but ideally by Friday but have heard nothing more from the buyer. How long would you wait for a response or collection before listing the item again or offering a second chance offer to the next highest bidder?
Thanks

You are way too early to be thinking of a second chance offer. You really need to be finding out what sort of time frame the buyer has in mind and see where you go from there.
If you haven't heard by the end of this week maybe drop another email, or even give him a call and ask about making firm arrangements for collection. If they seem unwilling to commit to a fixed date within the next couple of weeks suggest that you allow them to withdraw from the deal so you can offer the item to someone else.
If time was a major problem it might have been useful to mention that in the auction itself as that might have given you a better negotiating point. If you do go to a second chance offer then be aware you will pay 2 sets of FVFs. However, if you have been as helpful as you can to the original buyer he might well agree to do a mutaul reclaim and save you that portion.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
