Can i ask some experienced ebayers whether a buyer can ask for a partial refund on ebay? I bought a clothes bundle described as good condition, half of the bundle is unwearable, discoloured, bobbled etc. I thought that my options were to return the whole bundle at my expense or accept the items and move on, (as condition is subjective). Others have suggested i contact the seller and ask for a partial refund but i did not think this was an option.
Thanks
Thanks
So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.

Yes you can, but the "deal" is done between you and the seller to which they obviously have to agree, which they may well do rather than having the headache of returned items and full refunds etc.
I would not email them asking outright for a partial refund, you may be best starting off by saying you are not happy and tell them why, then go from there.

You can ask but the seller may dig their heels in and ask you to return for a full refund if they disagree with your assessment of the condition. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

both of the responses you got are correct. Contact the seller and tell them what you think it was worth and that you wouldn't have bought the lot for the amount you paid if it was listed correctly. Wait and see what they say. Partial refunds can be done but it's all upto the seller.0

I would follow UnderPressure's advice - don't ask for a partial immediately in case it seems like you're trying it on to get them for cheaper. Just say you are disappointed with items xyz and why and see what seller's response is.0

It might be useful to take some pictures of the items you're not happy with and upload them to strengthen your case."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0

I agree. As a seller I would never give a partial without photos. (I try not to do them at all as they only encourage people to try it on). They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
If a buyer requested or demanded a partial i would think they were trying it on.
I would insist on it being returned. So start off with a quick reply saying your uhappy with the quality of the items they sent.
If they dont offer anything acceptable then either return or leave negative and low stars.

Thanks for your replys - i emailed the seller and did not mention return / partial refund / feedback i just said i was disappointed as essentially half of the bundle was unuseable. Seller has replied to say that the other half were excellent so i still got a bargain and i should have emailed first to check the quality of each item. I had already decided to keep the items but any doubt that i had - that maybe the seller considered they were actually in good condition - have just been dispelled. So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.0

That's a terrible reply from the seller. If s/he had described the bundle as being half excellent, half rags I doubt whether you would have bid. What are you going to do now?I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0

Well its not quite a bargain for half the items but there are a couple of nice things in there which i really like and what is not wearable will be binned, they are not even good enough to give away
if i was the seller i would be embarrassed and my feedback will reflect the truth.
