99% of insurers work that way. You pay the excess, and they claim it back from the other party.
Once the other party settles the claim you also get your No claims back.
It's pretty standard.0 -
This is standard practice. You claim off your insurance and so need to pay your excess. This will affect your no claims bonus. If and when your insurance co can get the other party to admit liability, they will recaim what they have paid out back from them, so reinstating your no claims bonus. They will then claim back you uninsured losses (your excess)Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

well i have never had an experiance like this.
this is my forth accident in 13 years of driving.
never once have i had corrispondance like above.
a car was always provided (only issue was to get it upgraded) automatically .(all no faults)
my car was always promptly attended to.
and never once was my no claims discussed or that i had to deal withthe other parties insurence direct.
is this a service industry or just pay and sort it your self?0 -
Your insurance co will deal with the other party insurers on your behalf you dont need to do that. But you will need to claim on your insurance for your vehicle in the first instance and pay the excess until your ins co has claimed it all back from the other insurers.
Courtesy cars do not always come as standard with policies.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -

This seems normal to me - Swiftcover are a very low cost outfit and part of the cost saving means they don't offer a courtesy car. It's normal for insurance companies to remove the no-claims if you make a claim and only re-instate it if they get payment from the 3rd party - even if they don't say so quite so bluntly:-)
SwiftCover saved £100 PA for me - mind you I haven't had to claim yet!Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?0 -

are you sure your NCD was never affected whilst your previous claims where open?
Depends on who you where with - some insurers safeguard your ncd in a non fault accident immediately following registration - some dont.
Your car would either have been a courtesy car from the garage - or it was probably credit hire whereby the costs are claimed direct from the Third party normally via a hire car company
Its a case of needing to check what your covered for before you need to make a claim im afraid and cheapest isnt always the best0
