Teach your kids about premium rates and other charging numbers

Nice to see the premium rate regulator, ICSTIS, getting pro-active. It's launched a website for kids to understand premium rate phone tariffs and how they work. The site's called www.phonebrain.co.uk and I think they've done rather a good job - well worth showing to any teens or younger children who are getting phone active.

This has been running for some time now, at least since the beginning of December 2006, as discussed on the SAYNOTO 0870 site, where they had to make amendments to the call charge rates as they completely messed up

  • Please ask your members to use the following URL - http://www.saynoto0870.com/ - to find alternative cheap numbers to ring companies on rather than their 0870 or 0845 numbers. If this has already been done then apologies for the duplication....

jpg - you'll see there's a link to the full article on saynoto0870 in the first post which both discusses the saynoto0870 site (which you'll see Im a sponsor of) and how to cut the cost of calling 0870 numbers if there's no alternative

Definitely recommend saynoto0870 website - it has saved me an incredible amount of money (especially as these numbers seem to keep you on hold or lead you slowly through their menus).

Also I'd like to say a huge thanks to MSE for recommending saynoto0870 and saving me loads!!

It has been quoted on the "Phonebrain" Website that 0870 calls cost up to
10p per minute. Not true !! - Virgin Media charge 25p per minute to call their
0870 Customer Services number, so BEWARE !! - Maybe there are other companies out there who are doing the same !! - Pilot1

I know Virgin Media are probaly the most expensive service around but when did they start charging 25p a minute to call 0870 numbers.

They charge 6p connection and 10p a minute peak,8p a minute evenings, and 6p a minute to call them.(yes dear but not that dear).

VM customers can get cheaper rates to them and other numbers by using
