Just what we don’t need – our bikes have been stolen!

Thanks all for your good wishes.
I haven't had a look at my insurance policy yet but I very much doubt whether it's worth claiming. My bike is worth nothing (£10 max I reckon) and OH's was bought for £69 about 2 years ago so probably worth about £30 max now. I bet the excess is more than the claim would be!
My Dad's bike is also worth nothing - as was proved yesterday when I found it! They obviously didn't want it. I was walking home from work yesterday and there it was, propped up at the street corner, roughly 100 yards from our house. It's front wheel was buckled, as if it had been run over.
Also as I walking down to our house I found a tool which had been in one of the pannier bags on the back of my bike. After talking to our neighbours, they said that they had seen the old bike propped up at the street corner in the morning and they had also seen a lock which sounded like the one off OH's bike. So OH had a walk up and, lo and behold, he found the lock in the bushes by a car park behind some shops at the end of the road. So we have a few clues. What we reckon is that there was a van parked in the car park and our bikes were wheeled up the road to it. They obviously realised that they would never be able to sell my Dad's bike, being so old, so just chucked it into the road.
We have update the police with the latest info so we will see!
Feeling a lot better today as we have had some good news today - see my diary thread. Will hang on to see if either of our bikes turns up and if not we will try freecycle for some new ones.PigginSkint's debt free diary
