Cooker cable

My new cooker came with a cable attached to it to wire in to the cooker circuit. The cable will reach the outlet but it's a bit short and I wanted a longer cable. The cable supplied is a flexible 6mm cable.
I went to my local electrical factors and they said they didn't sell cable like that. Next I went to B&Q and the bloke in there tried to convince me 2.5mm flex would be OK (er no thanks). Then I went to the local independent white goods supplier and he said I shouldn't fit a longer cable as it's a portable appliance then tried to sell me some 6mm T/E. So what do I do fit it with the cable supplied although it's very tight or get a piece of T/E a bit longer and use that?

Report the idiot at B&Q to trading standards. I’m serious, he should not be saying things like that. Avoid DIY sheds and go to a proper electrical wholesaler. They will be cheaper and more knowledgeable, though even they get it wrong sometimes.
Can you open up the back of the cooker and access the cable connector. It should be an easy job to fit a longer cable of the correct rating.
Make sure it is suitable for cooker use. It might need to be heat resistant or something like that.0 -
I got a length of 10MM T/E not ideal but it's high enough rating for the job, it's not going to be moved around so it will be OK. I got the back off the cooker no probs, only 4 screws. I couldn't get a piece of flexible cable anywhere.Nothing to see here, move along.0

I had the same problem with 4mm heat resistant flex.
can't get it for love or money, had to order a drum of 50 mtr.
Use it to do larger ovens, hobs and cookers.baldly going on...0
