Insurance Company Looking For Parts-how long?

On the 6 February a bus drove into the back of my car. The bus company accepted full liability. My car was recovered to a local garage.
The insurance company (Fortis) assessed the damage and said that the vehicle could be repaired not written off.
Drive Assist have provided me with a free car since 6 February.
I anticipate the value of my car to be approximately £6K (MG ZR 120+)
Since 6 February, nearly 2 months ago, the garage have been looking for spare parts (Bumper Moulding for a tailgate)
My question is this-in 2 months they have been unable to locate the part. How much longer are they allowed? I have tried to push for a write off but the insurance company don't want to know. There seems to be no end to this.
Is there anything I could do-or should I just be patient? Is there some time issue when they have to admit they can't repair the car?

Hi - quite possibly no new parts are availasble in view of demise of MG Rover. There are several firms specializing in S/H Rover spares.Google for MG Spares or similar. When I needed a door for a 52 model MGF a helpful firm in Burnley was able to courier it over very promptly.
Best of luck0 -
CHeck what the wording in your policy says.
Some will state if the part is unavailable they will simply offer you the cost of the last list price.
Sometimes if you are willing they will fit a second hand part
I doubt they will write it off as it isnt the insurers fault they are unable to source the car it is due to the manufacturer0
