Hi all if i purchase the Orchid dialler and use it with ntl will it work? as you have to dial 0808 170 778 8 -wait for voiceprompt- followed by the complete follow-on telephone number.

Cheers

My orchid dialer used to work fine when I was with telewest using the same trick. The only thing to watch is the 1/2p min charge for calling the 0808 number.
If I used the 1899 free call 0808 number then there was no cost. ;)

Tho if your getting cheap line rental with NTL I wouldn't worry bout the small charges.

And to answer your question: When you configure the dialer the you can select the sort code or the 0808 and wait option, depending if your on NTL/telewest or BT.

    Excellent, thanks

so with the dialer i just program it with the 0808 170 778 8 number and wait option and i just dial the normal number from my phone, is this correct?

2 months saving aon my libe rental will pay for the dialer :)

Yea, just program the dialler with the required freephone (access) number and the required wait option (upto 5 seconds).

After the dialler is programmed, just dial the number you want to ring and the dialler will automatically dial the access number (the 0808...) with the required number of seconds wait and finally the number you originally entered! (hope this makes sense?)

Obviously, from you dialling the number and it ringing out on the end, there will be a couple of seconds delay as it dials the freephone access number first. I'm not sure but I imagine this being a relatively small delay but compared to paying NTL (or Telewest) rates for the calls I know I could live with it!
