Hey just wanted a spot of advie from u guys, i reciently won a prize, a trip to Berlin all expenses paid from this post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...ghlight=berlin
from MTV, they called me and gave me all the prize details a company called ndl group has been in touch to arrange the flights etc but has reciently asked me for my bank details to transfer the prize spending money, i would normally not send bank details at all via e-mail but it does sound very legitimate, what do u guys think? send or not? normally companies dont ask for bank details but the trip is 5th oct so maybe doing it fast track?

I'd email them asking for a phonecall so you can do it over the phone. Sounds legitimate enough, just not very careful on their behalf.
    Well done though :)

    Congratulations Pinkteegan :T

Ndl have dealt with a win for me, so I think they are legit. Recently a company asked for my bank details so they could transfer the money part of the prize to my account. They did say if I didn't want to write it in an email, I could phone with the details (which I did).

    Enjoy your trip! :j

Hi,I'd not have an issue with giving the details.NDL are a very big company that are used by lots of promotors eg The Sun.
    http://www.ndlgroup.com/
All you are going to give them is the info' that is on the bottom of a cheque ie Name, acct no & sort code so I cannot see the risk. After all we used to hand cheques out & did not know what happened after we signed them.
Much the same happened to me on my NY win.The promotor sent £200 to my account to pay for a meal & carriage ride.
I would agree with phoning the details if you are fearful re email.

  • Just to add to what others have said. NDL are a very reputable company. If you really don't want to give them your bank details i'm sure you could ask them to send you a cheque though. They sent me a cheque when they organised my trip last year (although they never gave me the option of the bank transfer).

i've won a holiday and it was arranged with NDL and they sent me a cheque... I'd have preferred a bank transfer but it was a while ago so maybe they didn't regularly do them. They are amazing. On my holiday part of the trip we couldn't do as there was a strike in italy so all the museums were closed so they replaced that activity with an amazing meal in london and theatre tickets when we got back.

I've just been in a similar situation regarding sending bank details via email. Two choices are have you got a separate bank account that you don't use or as a few pence or pounds in? You could give them the details of that account then once it is in transfer the money into your regular account?
Alternatively send a Microsoft word document to them with the bank details of your account. Password protect it then ask them to contact you when they receive it via telephone then give them the password for the document and they'll confirm the details are on the document.

The only bank details that they need are what are freely available on any cheque that you write, Sort Code & Account number.

  • Exactly what Barnabysue said!

Plus they cannot remove money from your account with the account and sort code.
People can only draw money out if they have your long card number in the middle of the card and the 3 digit security number :)

Have fun you lucky thing! :D
