Glyphosate is the chemical name - you'll find lots of branded products that contain it so read the small print. It's translocated through the plant so kills the green parts and the roots and doesn't stay active in the soil.
Other weedkillers just kill the green parts of the plant. Others stay active in the soil. Chose a weedkiller that does what you want.0
