The norm on many forums is to have an up/down system.
But MSE does it a different way - only one-way, up. So you can indicate a post is good, but you can't indicate a post is bad.
I much prefer MSE's way of doing things. With a "down" system it makes people fear for posting what might not be the majority opinion.

I like this on the whole too.
