Cat insurance

Our two cats have been insured with Tescos since birth - they have not been worthy of any claims in their 8 years of life
The cost of the insurance has gradually climbed from about £5 per month to the latest £16.18 per month - EACH !!
Is this a good way to waste money or not
I want them covered but not at this much money - thats £384 per year for both cats (double what I pay for home and contents insurance) - what are our options ?
Any cheaper (RELIABLE) cover available ?

Probably not - for cats this age.

    I am paying £20.00 per month each (!) for my 6yo, 2x2yo and a 1 yo boys...
  • If there's no pre-existing conditions, I'd certainly have a hunt around.

I'm currently paying £19 / month (total) for my 2 (7 & 4 yo) with petplan. I am thinking of moving them to Axa as the quote was quite a bit cheaper & they have no pre-existing conditions, however, I have heard people say they are slow to pay out which is why I've not done it so far.

Don't compare pet insurance to home insurance because the risks of claiming on your pet insurance are much higher - and if you are dealing with a chronic condition you could be claiming thousands each and every year which you would never do with, say, a burglary.

You might try AXA, but do be aware it's not the claims you make that are pre-existing conditions but ANYTHING you have brought to the attention of the vet from a stomach upset to minor accident to skin complaint.

Lemon juice is very acidic so you may find this damages your possessions. Maybe use lemon oil or citrus extract?
