Packing Boxes etc.

Hi,

I am moving soon and have been looking for boxes, paper, tape etc.

Does anyone know of any cheap companies to get these, please?

Hope this is the right place, have done a search and couldn't see anywhere else to ask!

Thank you in advance.

Ask on freecycle if anyone has packing boxes. I got proper removal boxes that someone had kept in their garage last time. Tape and marker pens we bought from the supermarket.

I'm just about to do it again, so hopefully I'll hit lucky. Anybody in Worcestershire got any boxes?! :rotfl:

After Freecycle try (in order of expense):
    1. Your local off-license for boxes that had bottles in. They are small but are double walled so are very strong.
    2. Places like Homebase and Iceland for larger but more flimsy boxes
    3. Buy on the net from someone like cardboard-!!!!!!. They are cheaper to buy from even with postage added than the self storage places.
    4. Buy bubble wrap, tape, etc from an office supply store like Staples
    5. Finally if you run out of time and are desperate buy some from a self-storage place like Access, Big Yellow etc. They are the most expensive for everything.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

We had this problem recently as we had decided not to use removal men. We could not find cheap boxes to buy anywhere.

In the end we made several trips to the area round the back of our local Argos, where there were loads of boxes waiting to be baled and disposed of. Much better sizes than Tescos had. The rest came from my OH's parents who run a small cookware shop and were glad to get rid of them, as otherwise they have to pay to have them taken away. So try asking around local small businesses.

we were wondering this as we are planning to do the move ourselves...the only place I could find them were in the argos catalogue but they want £40 for 15 boxes

Bookshops are good for boxes - they are usually nice and strong too.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Butter, margarine and cheese boxes are really strong, try asking your local supermarket. I actually asked the girls working on the shop floor and they let me help myself.

Also best place I've found for bubble wrap is ebay, you can buy large rolls very cheap. When we last moved I used it to wrap breakables and then padded out the boxes with newspaper.

    Good luck!
