Howdens sale - is this a real sale?

The word 'sale' in front of the many stores usually means nothing but hope springs eternal. Who had an experience with Howdens sale, how did they prices change comparing to normal time?

Every October Howdens have a big promo month. I install kitchens for a living and am pricing up 3 kitchens at the moment. I have got prices for delivery this month and have had them priced up for delivery in October. If I get them delivered (and paidfor) in October there is a 15 - 18% saving.

There is no sale all the staff do is mark up the prices throughout July, August and September and the offer an extra 'x' amount off bringing it down to the same price you would pay earlier in the year. Every branch still has to make 42% margin overall for the month so take any offers with a pinch of salt, you will get a better deal in November when they are desperate for sales

Just to help you out here and balance things bit.

Howdens has its "Period 11" promotional period in October where to get the deals the kitchen has to be delivered by the end of October.

Benchmarx has its "Big Bang" promotional period starting Monday and finishing the end of October with the offers valid as long as the kitchen is delivered by the end of November.

I work for Benchmarx, just wanted you guys to be informed of both Promo periods.
