EDF Blue switch being delayed again

Just logged into my new EDF online account to check how my switch from Eon is going. Was suprised to see that the expected start dates for supplying electricity and gas have been considerably delayed.

I signed up Aug 12th and was due to switch over earlier this week. Now the estimated switch over dates are October 23rd. I was led to believe that things would be all sorted in 4 to 6 weeks.

Hope this is not a sign of EDF not being able to cope with the increased demand.

Are you swapping from another supplier? if so it may be worth checking with them that they are not holding it up. When I swapped to EDF from BG, BG held it up as I had a small debt on my Gas account. As I had a lot of credit on my Elec account I thought they would sort it out internally but didn't.
  • I found with my switch to them, that the dates change just as you think you've been switched. I then found out that the original dates had been applied, and there is an anomoly on their website which changes the dates. I phoned EDF and they admitted it's an error. Try phoning them, and the best of luck with getting someone to answer. Their response to customers is appalling!

That's a(nother) glitch with the EDF online system.

You will get emails confirming the exact switch dates.
I applied to switch beginning of Aug. I have confirmation both gas & electric have now been switched, and these were no later than a week compared to their first estimates.
According to online account, my services won't transfer until next month - that's incorrect.

Be patient, emails will arrive shortly or read them in 'My messages' within your online account :)
(they may not be quite there yet)

I actually called them Monday at midday to check by gas switch (they confirmed it was due for Tuesday and I got the email later that day)

Maybe I was lucky, but I got straight through :)
However the line was appalling once I got past the automated bit - it was frequently like there was a overseas dailling tone and on one occassion like I had been disconnected during which times we couldn't hear each othert, but hung on and got the information eventually.
