hand held vac help?

Hi
I need to buy a hand held vacuum cleaner. SO i was wandering does anyone know what to look out for in one?
I'd especially like some help with regards to the suction power, and the #.#v and #.#w figure that they throw about mean? Whihc one really refers to the suction power? or do neither?
Any help would be appreaciated, breaking the whole thing down epsecially explaining to me what features in reality mean what would allow me to make my own mind up. But at the same time i would like some recommendations.
Thanks.
Features i'm after
- Suction Power - Purpose of it is to clean Dust (not big pieces of dirt)
- Bagless (in the sense don't want to have to purchase bags)
Thanks.
- Mains powered or rechargeball (don't want to have to purchase batteries)
- Washable filters (i don't want to have to purchase anything recurringly every so often)

My experience of a cordless rechargeable hand held vac (think it was a Black & Decker) some years ago was that it had very poor suction and was quite noisy - brought it straight back to Argos , if I remember correctly, but perhaps they have improved since then but it put me right off them..0

anyone know if the situation has improved since then? Pointless to buy one if the suction is non-existent.0

i,ve had a dirt devil but it wasn,t very good. But since then i bought one from lidl it only cost me a tenner and it has good suction (around 9 volts).
It certainly picks up dirt without my having to resort to my dyson.
hope that helps.btw it is a rechargable one.0 -
Had a Dustbuster but they're rubbish as suction is useless, quicker to pick dirt up by hand! Got a Dirt Devil which is brilliant and really powerful.2p off is still 2p off!0

ok thanks, 9volts is decent suction then. But what does the watts mean? Sometimes i see that instead of volts on the description.0
