Re leaking shower - are Mira trying it on?

We've had our present shower for many years. It's wired into the wall and the leak is coming from behind the control casing, thus very dangerous so no shower usage!

I rang Mira re having it repaired and was told that they stopped making that model (Mira Supreme 8.4) in 1992 so no parts available, therefore we'd have to buy a new shower. The weird thing is that I'm positive it was repaired (by Mira) AFTER 1992. We want to replace it with as similar a model as possible so that the casing covers the same area on the wall, but the one that fits the bill (the Mira Advance) costs around £250!

Is our present shower really unrepairable? Could'nt a good plumber fix it, even though Mira have obviously errr washed their hands of it?

If there any plumbers reading this I would be eternally grateful for your advice!

Btw, we have a combi boiler(Vaillant, installed last year to replace previous one, also a combi). Also, there is a pump beneath the bath to boost flow as we have a shared water supply(archaic, I know!).

The parts were probably available after 1992, but they probably only keep them in stock for a certain amount of time as new models are released.

Dont think Mira would tell you porkies, they are a very good company, and as you say you have had the shower over 13 yrs(1992)so you have had good service from it.And i would go for the Advance, and if it lasts another 13 yrs,it would cost you only £19.23 a year.
I always recommend Mira, good customer relations, service, and they will come out if there is a fault.
