A puzzling (for me) question on renewal quote (car insurance)

I have been with Direct Line for 5 years and have had no problem. However, I always wonder why, at renewal stage, they remind that I have to disclose to them any incident/change of profession/etc.
Now I can understand why they need to be informed if I change my job or if I get married (a little discount this year since I got married :rotfl: ).
But surely they should know if I have made claims, etc as it will be on their system? I have been with them for 5 years. Or do they mean if I had an accident/claim while driving another car? (nothing of the sort happened to me, thank God!) I'm really puzzled. Maybe someone can shed some light on it? Thank you.

Yes.
You have to let them know about any incidents irrespective of which car you were driving, as well as other changes since you started the policy
(Are you sure you are getting the best deal. 5 years with the same company doesn't sound mse!)0 -
As above, you could be driving a company car or whilst being a named driver on a partners car etc. Plus you may have an accident which you decide not to claim for.0

Thank you
That's what I thought, it relates to driving other cars
Quentin, I thought of looking elsewhere, but I have one problem: I had my windscreen changed 2 years ago, which didn't affect my NCD with Direct Line. But would I have to declare that should I change insurers?
I am also thinking of checking if I can get our rescue cover (I think DL have an agreement with Greenflag?) change to another provider. Although to be fair, we claimed on it twice (in the same day!) last year and the premium has barely changed.
I guess it doesn't cost anything to use a comparison website and see0 -
Some insurers want to know about glass claims others dont, if in doubt then declare it
DL's breakdown is via greenflag as DL and GF are one and the same company.0 -

Your NCD would remain as it is (ie no change) were you to find a better deal.
You would have to disclose the claim, (dl will have taken it into account when settong your premium), though it will be well worth shopping around - the premium is the relevant item rather than your claims history (and see the mse guide to best deals for breakdown cover too!)0
