Done covert audits where I had to clear the shelves of a product that people only buy in quantities of 1 or 2 (the latter if on a multi-offer) and went through self scan to reduce the risk of being asked by chatty checkout assistants! I did have a response lined up just in case, but can't tell you what it was as it will reveal tmi for this thread.
Worst case, never underestimate the power of a blank look and a thickly-accented "No English". That or just appear to be a bit nuts, I find that one really easy.
Other great ways to avoid conversation include going through the checkout on the phone to someone (pet hate, really rude, but needs must).Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Am I allowed to ask which mystery shopping companies you lot reccomend? I am new and I have signed up to a couple (not heart back from one, just got verified on the other which has a few jobs available in fast food places)
I know theres a big list on the first page but which are your favourites, I have heard some mystery shopping things are scams or really unreliable
I know this is a bit lazy asking here but if anyone can reccomend some that would be lovely
thanks0 -
We all have different opinions, I'd guarantee 9 out of 10 people on here would baulk at the thought of what I've really enjoyed spending 12-16 hours a day for the last three days doing.
I'd personally say, take a couple of companies that do relatively menial, poorly paid stuff (for example GAP and MF) for a training ground, to learn from and make mistakes on. That way if you truely drop a nut , get sacked, or find it's just not for you, it's not with a company that you stand to make much money from.
Then, have a read through the thread, various people's whinges, but keep an open mind.
The bottom line is, when you've got your head round doing the job, sign up for as many companies as possible, try a bit of everything, and see what works for you. Have a look at the alerts thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3532457 and that'll give you a clue who's putting jobs out that people are interested in.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Hi Guys,
I've done mystery shopping or a few years now but was just wondering if many of you do video mystery shopping?0 -
Hmmm, can't seem to open any pdfs (briefing notes or questionnaires) off the GfK site -- have tried firefox and IE. Anyone else having any luck? Very irritating -- I need stuff for 1st thing tomorrow!0
