Want to go to Turkey in June

Options
Hi All,

Well we have finally decided on Turkey as our Holiday destination. Would like to go in June for 2 weeks. Don't mind whether it is B&B, Half Board or All Inc, have heard that All inc isn't worth it in Turkey as it is soooo cheap.

I have never booked a holiday myself before, always done package deals. But was thinking of trying to book the hotel and flights and transfers seperately to see if I can get a better deal than the package ones.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay? Was thinking Icmeler / Marmaris region.

Also can anyone suggest websites to try for booking the elements seperately?

Thanks all.

I have to say, Turkey is not all that cheap anymore unless you find the out of the way places that the Turks go to.

Want to go around the 9th June for either 10 (ideally) or 14 days. Just 2 adults, no kids. Flying from London Gatwick. Budget around £700.

    Thanks.

We found the price difference between B&B and AI negligible so ended up paying for AI but then eating out in the evenings. I still think we saved money based on not having to buy breakfast/dinner or drinks during the day.

We stayed at the Marti La Perla in Icmeler, next to the beach and right in the town with plenty of restaurants nearby.
  • Thanks to Martin's advice, I managed to reclaim £2k in bank charges, so I decided to take myself & Mrs W on holiday to Turkey.
We went with Thomas Cook, but we have since learnt that we could have booked the hotel via medhotels.com & our transfers with holidaytaxis.com.
If ANYONE knows where we can get the cheapest return flights from Gatwick, we might just go again in October.
Just checked with the medhotels website, in

Hi Dave, take a look at www.aegeanflights.com you might be able to get some cheap flights in October, although the half term week will probably be expensive. I bought flights a few weeks ago for £70 each return to DLM in August 2008!

    I go AI in Turkey.

    I still eat out.

But most of the nice big 5 star hotels that are on the beach are AI. I like those nice clean modern hotels with their own beach.

It still offers fantastic value for money & you will get such a great deal you will still want to eat out a bit & not mind because of the price you paid to go.

Turkey has loads of resorts, all very different. If you said what sort of resort you were after people could advise you better, what sort of resorts do you like elsewhere. What are your "must haves".
