atos cancelled my medical

Any comments or guidance would be appreciated. I had a medical appointment made for me for transfer from ib to esa as i had failed to send in my esa 50 on time. Reason..i did not get the one they said they sent the first time
I then managed to send in my form with a medical report.and a week later i received a letter telling me "a medical practioner has reviewed the file and decided that it is not necessary to attend the appointment.
as we have recieved further medical evidence. the dwp will contact you in writing shortly regarding the above"
has anyone else had a letter like this? is it bad news... help, thanks

You cannot be refused ESA without a face-to-face assessment (unless a claim is terminated due to failure to attend, which is not relevant in this case), so it looks as if your claim has been successful. It is not possible to say which group you will be put into.

Agree with above... this is almost certainly good news. ATOS are responsible for providing specific advice on you in relation to the Work Capability Assessment to the DWP. If ATOS feel they don't have sufficient information from you (and perhaps your GP whom they may contact) and other evidence available then they will arrange a medical so that they can provide that specific advice to the DWP. What has happened here is that they arranged a medical due to lacking facts... subsequently significant facts have materialised so they've cancelled the medical and feel able to provide advice indicating how you qualify.

I advise you next week to call the DWP (number at top of DWP ESA letters) and ask for a copy of the ESA85A report. This report should exist.. it'll be the ATOS advice to the DWP about you... it will likely be advice rubber stamped by the DWP in the coming weeks. The document will give signfiicant information (the group they are recommending due to the descriptors they feel apply to you.. and a prognosis)... and if you don't understand any of it then return here for advice.
