Rbs goodwill gesture

Hi,this is my first ever post on here so bear with me.
i have been trying to claim back ppi on 3 loans.
1rst loan was in 2004 for £1500 ppi paid £461 and interest £980.20.
2nd loan in 2005 was for £3500 this paid off exsisting loan also not sure what amount of ppi and interest was paid on this as havent got loan agreement.
3rd loan was in 2007 was for £3500 again which again paid of remainder of last loan again no agreement to see how much interest and ppi paid.
they are all paid off now.
so bassically im after advice i had a letter today saying
it is my responsibility to review the circumstances surrounding your purchase of the policy.this means i have examined the records avalible from the time of the sale as well as considering the information you provided.i have done this in order to check that you were made aware of how the policy worked and comfirm you were given all the information you needed to make an informed decision to proceed with it.
on this occasion i have been unable to confirm precisely what information you were given at the time you purchased the policy.in the circumstances,as a gesture of goodwill and without admission of liability, the bank is prepared to make you the offer detailed below.
we will be willing to make you an offer of £2197.79.
would anyone say this is a fair offer?
and does this get taxed and if so how much would i recieve?
should i expect more and if so do i write to rbs before this offer expires to see what they say.
im not greedy just want to know if the amount sounds right, dont want to argue it out and then get nothing,as this money would help me greatly with christmas coming.
sorry its a long post i would appreciate any awnsers.:)

  • Hi,

I am quite new here too!

I am in the process of making claims with RBS, which I had 3 referring to loans taken.

I am using a PPI company who are proving to be helpful, although I do feel you can do these things on your own.

A few weeks ago, I received letters confirming receipt of my 3 complaints, and that 2 were did not have PPI (although I had docs showing the premiums). This said, on the 3rd claim I received an offer letter this week which identified that I had consolidated other loans in relation to the one claim and offers on each using the same wording as you have given was used.

My PPI company have checked these out and are happy that they should be accepted. Therefore I think this is just general wording used on all communication.

You should have received a breakdown which shows the original premium, plus interest at 8% PA on the value - RBS seem to automatically deduct 20% for tax so there should be no concerns there.

Hope this helps - just waiting to see the actual money now!

Charging at least 25% (plus VAT) of your redress, they would be!

A full refund of your insurance payments together with 8% simple interest is full redress. You will get no more.
    Only the interest is taxable.

Over £2000 for what you have said sounds like fair amount - I had a similar story and have had an offer of £2000 so accepting as I wouldn't want to loose it! I was advised to. I don't turn down money!!! Don't use a company to claim PPI - easy to do it yourself!!!
    Enjoy it! x
