Single parents who are studying full time should still qualify for income support. Who told you otherwise?

    This is from direct.gov.uk:

    Who can claim benefits?

    "Full-time students

Most full-time students can’t claim income-related benefits but you may be able to claim if you:
    • are a single parent
    • have a partner who is also a student - and one or both of you are responsible for a child
    • have a disability, and qualify for the disability premium, severe disability premium or income-related Employment and Support Allowance"

Housing & Council Tax Benefit for a start.
You should be able to get IS or JSA during the hols.
Have you got all of your student finance?
    Maintenance Grant
    Special Support Grant
    Parents Learning Allowance
    Dependants Grant
    Childcare Grant

I got told by job centre today that I cant claim IS becuase my youngest daughter is 7 years old as they changed the age limit. You can claim if your part time but not full time!
Only if I have disabilty or caring for someone can I claim it.
    I'm the daddy:D
I live in Wales so not sure what I can claim!

As you're in FE rather than HE you seem to be claiming what you're eligible for. I assume that you're getting HB/LHA (although you don't mention it) and you won't have to pay council tax as you're a full time student.
  • Yes I can get council tax redemption but I need proof to give to them.
  • Your college will provide a letter as evidence

Not if she's returning to full time education after the hols.
