Single parents who are studying full time should still qualify for income support. Who told you otherwise?
This is from direct.gov.uk:
Who can claim benefits?
"Full-time students
Most full-time students can’t claim income-related benefits but you may be able to claim if you:- are a single parent
- have a partner who is also a student - and one or both of you are responsible for a child
- have a disability, and qualify for the disability premium, severe disability premium or income-related Employment and Support Allowance"

How old is your youngest child?0

Housing & Council Tax Benefit for a start.
You should be able to get IS or JSA during the hols.
Have you got all of your student finance?
Maintenance Grant
Special Support Grant
Parents Learning Allowance
Dependants Grant

I live in Wales so not sure what I can claim!0 -
As you're in FE rather than HE you seem to be claiming what you're eligible for. I assume that you're getting HB/LHA (although you don't mention it) and you won't have to pay council tax as you're a full time student.0

Yes I can get council tax redemption but I need proof to give to them.0
