bike helmet-reasonable time?

I bought OH a bike helmet just over 6mo ago (3 march) It broke yesterday (the twiddly thing at the back that adjusts size snapped)

Bike shop response to my request for replacement part FOC was they offer a 90 day warranty...

Can I push it? Or just buy a new one from a different bike shop?

As you are past the 6 months point then technically they can insist you get a report done to confirm the fault was inherent (i.e. not due to misuse or wear and tear). However if this does find in your favour then they MUST offer a remedy (plus refund the [reasonable] cost of the report) - any such remedy may be repair, replace or refund, and the refund could be partial to account for your usage (but unlikely for such a short time frame).

tl;dr ... You still have rights under SoGA (Sale of Goods Act) 1979.
