You can say bring a dish. Ok, so your grandad can't, but he will bring some wine, so that is his contribution. It's fine to say I want contributions and I need to know what it is so we don't end up with three turkeys and no potatoes. Do ask them to bring a bottle as well, it stops them drinking what you are having.0

I'm ask my christmas dilemma if ypu like?
My parents separated this year. One lives with dh and i, the other lives at home, both are here for christmas, it will be tense but ok i think.
Dh sister isin europe this christmas for the first time in a few years. I do not like her much, but dh undertsnadably and rightly loves her and i wholeheartedly support him in that. Her bf is also in europe in another country (could not get jobs in the same place). I think its likely they will go to one or other set of parents, but should we extend an invitation to them both for christmas or boxing day or something? I think christmas day, with my parents risks being tense, do i go ahead then and deal with it all on one day or do i staggar it so we do my parents on christmas day and dh's sister and bf on boxing day? (there is a nonety percent change that sis won't come, but if we extend an invitation i need to know i can stand by it).0 -

It's Christmas, invite them all. They can talk to each other then and ignore those they don't want to chat to much.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
