Moving house want to connect to BT

I'm moving house, and I'm currently with NTL for telephone and broadband.
The house I'm moving into also has NTL, however I want to swap over to BT in order to get the more competitive broadband deals, (sky offer broadband free if you are already a sky customer).
Has anyone had success in getting BT fitted with free installation, if so could you explain how etc.

BT's website says:If you don’t have a telephone provider and believe your property once had a BT line that has been disconnected, simply look for a white BT phone socket on your wall. If you find one, this may give an indication that you can get connected* Please call 0808 100 7722.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
