Please help me, need to fix car!

I'm looking to improve the car to make to get the best out of it as possible and make it as efficient as possible I have a 2002 fiat punto. It has 90,000 on the clock, 6 previous owners, who I don't think looked after the car in the best possible way.

Basically, my car wouldn't move as it ran out of petrol. Is there anything I should change on the car because it ran out of petrol?

I'm looking at changing the spark plugs are these any good?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-024223...7529551&sr=1-8

I'm also looking at getting these to clean out all the crap out of the fuel system.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Redex-RDX02-...7529954&sr=8-1

Or because I've ran out of petrol, should I just replace the fuel pump with a new one.

Is there anything else I should change on the car? Or possibly should I just get a full service history?

somebody said this:
New oil and filter.
New plugs, leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap
New air filter
New Fuel filter

That'd be a good start.
No need to change the fuel pump - it either works or it doesnt.

New fuel filter? = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-In...7543260&sr=1-1

New Air Filter (gonna treat myself!) = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Pe...543313&sr=8-15

rotor arm? Can't seem to find this for the fiat punto 2002. any of this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_tr...r+arm&_sacat=0

not sure what kind of leads I should be looking for to get can you put me in the right direction please.

distrubitor cap? could you point me in the right direction on ebay or w/e in which ones I should be buying?

Can someone help me find the following above and is anything else I should be replacing!

Will thank everyone!

  • You'd be better posting in the car section rather than insurance

As it is a petrol car then running out of fuel does no damage to the car - if that was the case my first car would have been on the scrap heap decades before it eventually did go. Running out of fuel with a diesel vehicle is another matter.
  • sorry, wrong section. will report to a mod to delete the thread.

    thanks!
