shower not working

Hi,
My Mira Sport shower is not heating the water.
The overheat light comes on, I have looked online and it looks like it is a thermstat cut out switch that isn't working.
Do I need a plumber or an electrician for this job.
Thanks

Are you in a hard water area, and what is the water flow out of the shower head like - ours will do this from time to time if the shower head is scaled up. If you have hard water (you'll know by looking in your kettle if you don't know otherwise!) and have loads of scale in the head, its possibly worth leaving it in some vinegar (or descaler if you have some) for a few hours, rinsing it out and trying again.

While the shower head is off its also worth running the shower and cycling it from very hot to full cold a few times - this tends to shove a load of scale out from the heating chamber which again might help.

Once you have done what Dave suggests and you still believe it to be the cutout switch the answer is neither. Go to showerdoc or showerspares, find the part, procure same and fit it yourself. It ain't difficult.

  • Thanks for the advice.

I've cleaned the shower head, it wasn't too bad but the hose looks to have a bit of scale in it.
I got the idea it could be the themostat cut out switch off showerdoc so I don't really know if that is the problem or not.

The cut off light only comes on when running on high, doesn't come on when I push medium or low but don't get hot water on any setting.
