Constant telephone calls from British Gas

Hi all, was wondering if anyone had any advice please.

I switched from British Gas a couple of months ago, we had previously been with them for four years for both electricity and gas. I'm very happy with new suppiler, not least because of the price :)

However, for the past month I have been receiving telephone calls from British Gas trying to get me to go back. At first it was every few days but for the last couple of weeks its been at least everyday, often more. I have asked on several occasions to be taken off their database and for the calls to stop but no joy. We don't have caller ID on our phone and I'm starting to dread the phone ringing.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks :)

Contact your telephone service provider and ask to speak to their nuisance call department.

e.g. BT can offer a choose to refuse service which will block all calls from certain blocked numbers (even if the caller tries to withhold their number). This is a free service for a month (it needs to be cancelled else fees are then charged) but a month is usually long enough for a nuisance caller to get the message :)

You may also wish to file a complaint with British Gas. You'll find how either on your old bills or by consulting their website.
  • Whenever I get a call like that I hand the phone over to the resident senile dementiac pensioner (me) who talks the most amount of rubbish and keeps asking stupid questions and keeps repeating what they say and could they talk louder as there is a lot of background noise.

I hardly get any phone calls now.:(

    Thanks for the advice :)

I will definately have to complain, its getting silly now.

I'm not with BT for phone services so need to see if current provider (Sky) operate something similar regarding nuisance calls.

Retired - perhaps I should pass the phone over to my baby when he is very loudly demanding food? :)
