How much would I expect to pay??

How much should I expect to pay
I am currently renovating my house ready for the birth of my first child in November.
I am trying to get quotes for the tiling of the kitchen floor approx 6-8m2, the bathroom floor to ceiling approx 6m2 with average ceiling height, and a small porch at the bottom of the stairs about 1.5cm2.
Bare in mind me and my other half have already bought all the tiles, the adhesive, the grout, removed the old bathroom suit, and re skimmed the bathroom walls.

This is one quote I've had back, which I think is extortionate, tell me if am wrong! They want £1765!!!

We have just had quite a lot of tiling work done in kitchen, utility and bathroom and to be honest I was surprised just how much it actually costs....sticking my neck out a bit and saying actually thats quite a reasonable quote!

Firstly it's a professionally laid out specification and quote which says a lot about the company. Secondly here is a lot of work other than tiling to be done, such as priming the walls, over boarding the bathroom floor, screeding off the floor etc.

On that basis, it's a fair rice.

Get some other quotes but using that same specification and you'll be surprised how much it will cost you.

There's a reasonable amount of work to be done there with the boarding, DPM, screed plus things like trims and silicone. It could add up to £200 worth or materials. Are they aware you have the grout - from the spec it sounds like they are providing it which would add a little.

All in it doesn't sound like a crazy price but perhaps a little on the high side. I don't know where you live though, in the SE its more reasonable elsewhere less so but I've found trades v v expensive since moving.

They are already aware that we have bought the tiles, grout, adhesive, and they will have a blank canvas as we will have removed all the old bathroom, skirting etc and had the walls skimmed ready. Am living in Manchester don't know if that makes much difference.

need to ask them if they have also priced for grout
looking at the quote it sounds like the have or they would not mention
    grey grout unless specified otherwise.
whats the total square mr of tiling you need doing?
you can rougthly work out the cost as £25 per sq mtr for ceramic tiles and say £30 for the porcelain. that will give you an idea
Im in manchester and had people round to quote on tiling - trades tend to be alot cheaper up this way and ranged from 15-25 sqr mtr regardless of tile material.
Adding things like screw down floor boards sounds like bulking the quote out!
Thats like me saying for my kitchens - will screw kitchen units to the wall.
get a few more quotes on this

    Cheers

and they have included adhesives as well I suspect which the OP says he has already purchased. Unless OP has purchased to the specification stated by the tiler then he won't want to use it. Always let the tiler provide their own addy and grout.

Very valid question. OP doesn't seem to know and (my gosh that porch is small :D) its impossible to consider a comparison without knowing.

True but what the tiler has quoted for is supplying and fixing hardiebacker board over the existing floor to provide a stable substrate for tiling. Its a cost and totally not the same as bunging a few extra screws into the floorboards.

Agreed and make sure its for the same scope of work.

    Cheers
