I bought some cheap limestone chippings from Wickes recently to put around my bigger plants. They are quite big lumps, though, so not ideal for smaller bedding.
If you have cats in the neighbourhood, I'd recommend stone chips over bark. My local cats seem to treat bark chippings as another form of kitty litter. It's somewhat frustrating to find out that a local cat has just dug up your new plant and then peed on it .If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Wickes and Homebase do bags of pea shingle for £2.50, Wickes price reduces to £2 (i think) if you buy 10 or more.
However putting gravel or bark down will not necessarily stop the weeds coming through unless you are putting a membrane down first.0 -
I got 3 big bags of sparkly white decorative stones from B n Q this morning. They were reduced to £4.48 as they were in broken bags, but they had been put in strong bags anyway so all in all a good bargain!,Keely0
