Valuation survey - Northern Rock

Hi Guys

Our home to be (hopefully!!!) is having the valuation survey tomorrow. Our mortgage is with Northern Rock. Just wondered how soon I can expect to hear the result, will they phone etc. I'm desperate to know as you can imagine!

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks..........Anna

I've had 2 done with Northern Rock and I've found that on both occasions I receive a letter from them shortly before receiving my mortgage offer. They take a couple of weeks to come through.

    Thanks Jenni

Hope you don't mind me asking, on those occasions were there any problems or not? Just wondered if they let you know sooner if there is anything their not happy with.

We had a survey/valuation done by Northern Rock back in November via mortgage broker. We did not receive the valuation (after repeatedly asking for it) until late January. Apparently the broker had received it, but not us. Previously I had been sent the valuation within a few days of the survey being done, a copy had been sent to both myself and the broker. We were not happy with the service we go this time £560 for a very basic one page survey, just saying how many bathrooms there were and that yes it was worth the asking price.

I am sure you won't have the same experience, ours was partly due to an incompetent mortgage broker. Good luck.
  • Northern Rock (replace R with C) imo have a crap system they didnt check the flat roofs with our homebuyers and missed a few other things ...... the most money i've ever wasted and IMO i can not WAIT to get the hell away from Northern next month...... Good Luck :)

Surely you have a mortgage in principle? wouldnt they have already done the credit search before the MIP?

I have my MIP and survey report, awaiting mortgage offer. I gathered the credit checks had been passed:o

We had the mortgage agreed in principle with Northern Rock last Wednesday which included a full credit check, this was when the mortgage broker instructed them to carry out the valuation which took place today. I ended up phoning my broker today and they have said that under normal circumstances Northern Rock usually offer the mortgage in writing within 2-7days. I just hope that it is 2!

I got my valuation report (First Direct) within 3/4 days although I knew who the surveyor was and was able to ring for information of whether there was anything major wrong etc. Received mortgage offer in about a week.

Full survey report (building survey - 20pager) took about 6 days to receive.

First Direct are excellent (and they do get things done very quick!) :)
