IF (and you need to be sure) the old windows were structural and they recommend supplied and installed non supported windows then i would expect them to be liable. I would also be rapidly hiring some of these to support the structure if it were me.

Assuming you have cavity walls, it makes you wonder what is supporting the inner leaf of the wall.
Picture shows how a lintel works - and some prices, 2550mm = £143 ex vat.

The lintel is there to stop this very thing happening the bricks cant hit the plasterboard?????

It should be (working down) bricks supported by the lintol then plasterboasrd stuck to the underside of the lintol.

the bricks ontop of the lintel have collapsed, due to the unsettlement of the window being replaced. they have fallen in front of the lintel and the back. which means bricks are now laying ontop of my sofits and facias causing the bowing and also in the wall above window

  • hello, just a note -i look at load of houses during house sales and sagging brickwork or soldier corses are very common. Window companies have been replacing windows for years and very rarely do the seem to install a lintel and most seem to believe that there 'strengthened' windows dont need them. We have had to fit loads of lintels and sometime a good amount of briclwork as well. However you seem sure you have a lintel but i'm a little confused by what you are seeing exactly-i'm fairly new to this but is it possible to post a photo?(by the way the cost is in the few hundreds usually not thousands)
