Who can insulate a dormer bedroom?

Hi
We live in a 1960's chalet bungalow with two bedrooms in the 'dormer' part upstairs which, last winter, were unbearably cold! I was even wearing a woolly hat and dressing gown in bed - the heating had been on up until 10 mins before going to bed!
Apparently, the flat roof of the dormer and the side walls (which stick out from the sloping roof) do not have any insulation, only plastic cladding on the outside front wall.
What we need to know is, what kind of tradesman should we contact who could undertake this kind of work? I think it will entail building a false wall on the inside, into which insulation would then inserted, and possibly the same with the roof/ceiling. Not sure if to call a carpenter, general builder or what!
Any advice would be most welcome, as I can't bear the thought of a second winter freezing my wotsits off!

I'd be sticking insulation-backed plasterboard over the existing. You need a plasterer for that. And an electrician to bring the sockets, switches and light fittings forward. And a joiner to sort out the skirting boards and window sill. You need a general builder unless you can sort out the electrics and joinery. Otherwise you just need a plasterer.
And you might then need your carpet refitted. I'm assuming here your radiator will stay where it is and live in a little recess (if it's on an outside wall). I'd be tucking a sheet of reflective foam behind it, and buying some thermal curtain linings.I am the Cat who walks alone0 -
want i thought about doing with my dormer was to blow that wall insulation into the roof and the side wall, using that stuff that is blon into the wall space of the house,
could not find a place where i could DIY it myself at good price so never did it
may be worth getting a quote on having that done,0 -
Thanks, fluffymuffy/gamston - looks like we'll need several workmen then, seeing as we haven't the DIY skills to tackle any of it ourselves!
It's a bigger job and upheaval than we thought...
Gamston, any idea what type of company would do the 'blowing-in' kind of insulation? Did you get it done in the end?0 -
Op before you call anybody in, have a read of this because you will possibly get your insulation done for free.
