Hi
I am disabled getting full benefits, and my partner has come from abroard to live with me and has no recourse to public funds and no work allowed on there marriage visa, my local council have stopped my Housing and council tax benefit saying my partner need's a National Insurance Number (N.I.No) but they are not allowed one as they cannot work on this visa until futher leave to remain granted, the council have sent off to jobcentre plus a DCI 1 form asking for a N.I.No to be issued and we have now received a letter asking for them to go for the interview, but i am little worried about my benefit, they said to me at the council we need to see what it comes back at to pay benefit to me, but i informed the jobcentre when partner moved in and filled in an A2 form for my benefit and they made the new award and still pay me the single persons rate, and my income support did not stop while this was being done but i still have not been awarded any HB/CTB, does anyone kindley know how this works? why they need the jobcentre to say my partner cannot be allowed an N.I.No? it seems all strange as right now my local council who is the landlord are saying i'm in rent arrears etc and need to sort this out and when i explain to them they say talk to HB and i'm going round in circles, will they council pay my benefit once my partner has attended this N.I.No interview?
any help please, Thank you all

I think they are right about the NI number. You have to make the claim alone, but both of you need NI numbers for the claim to be valid (or at least have applied for an NI number). Sorry I can't help with the rest of your question.0
