Chances of getting anywhere with HSBC SAR?

I had a personal loan with HSBC taken out in 1998 and paid of in 2002, unfortunately I have no paperwork whatsoever relating to the loan and although it was paid from the current account I still use I have no statements from that period.
So If I send HSBC a SAR am I likely to get info dating back that far or will it be within the last 6 years?
Any help greatly appreciated.
:D All I want is an opportunity to prove that money doesn't buy happiness :D

    Hi there

You can of course give it a try, sometimes banks/businesses hold data for longer than 6 years where others may not, but if they no longer hold any details, they must therefore return your payment, alongside with a letter to explain.

SAR template here if you want to do this.....

The loan account number should be shown on statements, if you still have hold of any statements, its generally next to the loan monthly repayments and lenders name.

You can however, with the reasons you have though, still continue with a reclaim.
    Good luck.

Well, the OP didn't mention any reasons!

If "loobylee" is still a customer with HSBC, she can contact the bank and simply ask them if she had PPI with the loan in question. The problem with complaints from earlier than six years ago isn't normally with the Bank refusing this information, but with them requiring documentary evidence (statements etc) to prove that the PPI was actually paid.

It will help if "loobylee" posts up her complaint reasons.
