Increase credit card limit

in Credit cards
I've had a credit card with my current lender for six months and am looking to increase my credit limit. At the time of applying I just selected the minimum amount they would allow me to apply for in order to maximise my chances of being accepted.
I'll be using it to book flights in the coming months, which my current limit won't allow me to do.
I have logged onto my internet banking and selected the 'extend credit card' option and am told on the next page what my 'available limit' is. Underneath that there is a box for me to enter my new desired limit. (See attached screenshot.)
I would just like to clarify what the lender means by 'available limit'. Is this the maximum amount that they are willing to consider lending me? Or is it the maximum amount that I am guaranteed to be accepted for?
I realise that I could ring them and ask, but sometimes past experience tells me that employees in any organisation are not always clued in about what is on their website.
Thanks in advance.

It's a Nationwide Select credit card. If you copy and paste the link into he address bar it should work.0 -
It's the maximum at this time that they will increase it to. To get more than it offers would require you ringing them and giving them a good reason ie large amount of savings with them, inheritance due etc.0

So I'm not guaranteed to be accepted for that amount?0

I've increased my limit upto the maximum amount twice and had no probs
I think you'll only have problems if something has appeared recently on your credit file. 0 -
Okay thanks. Fingers crossed. Can you remember how long they took to make a decision?0

Straight away, it said that my limit was available for use immediately and was shown on my online banking. Good luck, should be a piece of cake, let us know how you get on
