He already said it's a rare book in a questionable condition. If it was me I'd buy a new book from a competitor and then throw that at them.

I think that OP should perhaps just draw a line under it all, turn the page and move on to the next chapter.

When you put your claim in OP be sure to request extra compo to cover the time spent posting on this forum and for the electricity used to run your computer. May as well ask for a goodwill payment to cover the time you have wasted and will never get back asking for advice too!!!
