Wedding Insurance . Credit Cards S75

I have just booked my daughter's wedding and have been considering taking out wedding insurance. However, looking at the exclusions it appears that the main things actually covered are the Venue ceasing to trade, or a failure of the photographer and other suppliers. As I paid the venue deposit on a credit card, would it make sense to rely on Section 75 rather than spend around £100 on the Insurance Policy which seems to cover very little? Any thoughts/experience would be gratefully received

Section 75 would potentially cover reclaiming the cost of whatever wasn't provided. But say that was something critical, such as the venue, it would not provide any cover for the other elements if you had to reschedule.
Whereas I would assume that proper Wedding Insurance would allow for some rescheduling of the whole wedding due to the failure of one critical part? What does the policy say?0 -
Thanks for your response.
The cover is for "irrecoverable expenses, including rearrangement, incurred as a result of unavoidable cancellation.....due to any insured reason". As far as i can see, these reasons are all to do with failure of the florist or photographer, loss of the rings, damage to wedding attire etc. I don't think any of these, as upsetting as they would be, would result in rearrangement. Events such as death of the Bride or Groom to be, or a close relative, are NOTcovered. I suppose if was the venue that failed, then the Policy would pay those suppliers that had upheld their part of the contract so the insurance may be wothwhile. Not totally sure though.0 -
You can certainly get wedding insurance that does cover sickness and death for the bride, groom or close family, again which wouldnt be covered by S75
Ultimately up to you, we chose not to get it personally but then ours was a low key affair with little initial outlay at risk.0 -
Many thanks for your thoughts0
