Faulty Washing Machine from Currys

Did you take out the transportation bolts? (I'm not sure it would work at all but was a thought)
Thanks for responding - yes, the bolts were taken out.I think the problem is in the programmer - some of the programs just won't do what they're supposed to according to the manual. For example, on program 1 I'm supposed to be able to wash at either 90% 60% or 40% but the machine won't do anything on the 40% setting - if I change it to to 60% then it works... but I don't always want to wash at 60%, in this day and age there's no need to and it uses more energy to heat etc. It also has a 'rinse' program but when I set that all that happens is that the drum goes round but no water goes into the machine... There are some programs that will get to the 'fabric conditioner' rinse and then flash up an H20 error - but if I set the machine on the same program but at a different temp it will complete without the error message but just bypasses this function totally. Very frustrating...

Do you mean 60° rather than 60%?
(Genuine question - I've never seen a washing program define a % figure).0 -
Number pad ... Left-ALT 0 1 7 6 gives you °
i.e. press and hold the left ALT key then press 0 1 7 6 in turn then release the ALT key.

Came down with the lurgy on Friday and didn't feel up to going to the shop, so I ended up waiting for the Hotpoint engineer to attend today to check out the machine and, just as I'd thought all along, he confirmed that it has a faulty programmer / board. He offered to either fix it or to organize a replacement but I told him I just wanted to return it for a full refund. He disappeared outside for a few mins to talk to his boss on his phone, came back in and gave me a receipt and an uplift number and then I had to phone Currys and give the number to them. I now have to wait 48 hours for them to contact me with a pick-up date and time...
Problem I have now is finding somewhere to buy a washing machine where if something goes wrong, I won't be given the same kind of runaround... there don't seem to be many alternatives out there without it costing considerably more... frustrating to say the least...0 -
Most companies operate the same way, although I know Comet still use their own engineers for a lot of this kind of thing.0
