Not exactly credit card but refused Next online account

There are some items I want to buy online from Next for my baby granddaughter. Of course you need to register online to do this but no problem. I have just bought some stuff online from Debenhams and registered there OK. I have a healthy bank balance, no overdue cards, own own home etc. Plus I have lots of online shopping accounts, (amazon, john lewis, M & S, laura ashley, fatface, laredoute, figleaves) all in current use.

Yet when I went through the registration process for Next, I was rejected. Got a message saying we are unable to process your registration, please contact our office if you need to discuss this further. I am not a regular shopper at Next for adults in the high street as the stuff is the wrong size for me but I did get an unsolicited catalogue a few years back through the door and sent it back. And I ticked No to the option to get one this time, maybe that is why?

I ticked no to receiving a directory last week, next page just asked me to pay by credit or debit card.

I am semi retired, pension, living in own home, no debts. Never had this issue before but as above, I did return their catalogue as unwanted a few years ago and maybe they have that on file as well......

I don't think they refuse you an account of the grounds of spite, due to you returning one of their catalogues a few years ago to be honest.

Are you saying that they were unable to register your address and could not send you any goods or that you tried to open an account, with a credit limit and they said no to that?
