What an awful thing to say to someone whos struggling.
As far as I know agencies have always been full of absolutle bullcarp. Even 15 years ago when the job situation wasnt as dire as it is now, they still lied to get you on the books.
They have always promised the earth and then offerred nothing.
The only thing they are interested in is keeping their own jobs.
I hate them.0 -

I've never been in a job I truly despise but I have been fortunate enough to have people around me that made the jobs I have had bearable. You are right about just sucking it up or leaving. I am signed up to so many agencies and when I ring I still cannot get any work.0 -

They only get to keep their own jobs by placing people with companies. That is generally the only time a recruitment agency gets paid.0 -
Agencies do not find jobs for people but people for jobs. Two different things.I've never been in a job I truly despise but I have been fortunate enough to have people around me that made the jobs I have had bearable. You are right about just sucking it up or leaving. I am signed up to so many agencies and when I ring I still cannot get any work.0 -
Why would they want to increase their database it's just more people phoning up every day? And you can register with as many of them as you want, so you can be on all their books.
Yes, they are only interested in their comission - that's their job to earn money. The job centre are targetted on getting people in jobs.
They don't get a 'cut' of your pay either, they charge on top for you (in the same way when you buy something from a shop they add profit).
It's the way of the world, if you don't like it there's not much you can do except not use them. Chances are something will always come through for you and minimum wage is better than JSA.
If you're looking for temporary work agencies are the only way to get it.0 -

Yes the job centre do not care if you get a job of not. They can not and will not help you.The_ICT_Engineer wrote: »Don't you mean off benefits, They are not concern if whether or not you have a job, Just as long you are no longer claiming.0 -

Because it makes them a more attractive commercial proposition to businesses who use PSLs when it comes to temp recruitment.
And that's a great demonstration of why people misunderstand agencies and what they do; they are not there for the public - they are there to service organisations to generate a profit. (There may be some good people in agencies, of course, but that's not their purpose.)
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
I had a funny experience with an agency a couple of weeks ago. With my current employer's permission, I put my CV up on jobsite.co.uk for temporary contracts and had agents falling over themselves calling me with jobs.
Then my boss got an email from an agent with my CV saying I was available but to act fast! It would have been embarrassing if she didn't already know and had agreed to it.0
