You are limited if you want to actually be on the strip.
Best bets would be either Tropicana or Excalibur south strip - both are on the corner with NYNY and MGM and near Luxor and Manadalay Bay
And Imperial Palace which is dead in the middle.
Of the three Imperial Palace is the best located and has the nicest rooms, though the layout is very confusing and it is a little dingy, Tropicana has the best pool.
Excalibur has the worst players in their poker room, though I don't really like the hotel - it's pretty scuzzy and smoky.
All of the other cheap places are not really walkable from centre strip.
Sahara, Circus Circus and Stratosphere are really far north and too far to walk to anywhere, kind of in a no mans land - though Sahara has monorail so might not be a bad choice.
Hooters isn't too far from the strip and I think is cheap if tacky.
Have you considered downtown - some decent hotels at a decent price and regular buses to the strip.0 -
The Americas best value inn is probably the best value. I have booked a few days in June at arounf £20 per night.(stayed there last year) It is just off the strip but literally a stride from the MGM. Rooms are basic but clean. Spend your money on other things in Vegas as you probably wont spend much time in your hotel0

bergaroo has pretty much summed it up though i slighty disagree about Hooters, if your lads without ladies in tow ,it is has it,s charms inside IMO and is as good as on the strip ( 2 mins walk ). not sure about the rooms though so research them

We stayed at the Flamingo last November. It has a great location, right in the centre of the strip opposite Caesars Palace.
You can walk to a number of the other hotels such as Bellagio, Caersars, Paris, Venetian, Mirage .
ts part of the Harrahs group which runs a free shuttle to its other hotels, Rio, Paris, Ballys, Harrahs.
The Flamingo has its own stop on the Las Vegas Monorail which takes you the length of the strip from MGM Grand to the Hilton.0 -
These places are dead expensive - anyone know where the Playboy hotel is?
Thanks anyhow0 -

We got a good rate for the New Frontier from:
https://www.i4vegas.com
We booked one of the Atrium suites, good value at $57 midweek rate.
It had a living room with large tv, fridge, sofa and easy chair two coffee tables a dining table and a sink. telephone
Bedroom had a vanity unit with sink and hairdryer, walk in wardobe with iron and ironing board, a tv, telephone and a clock radio.
We walked up and down the strip, no problem,it wasn't too far to walk, the fashion shopping mall was right next door and had a good food court.0 -
If Circus Circus and Strat is too expensive for you , than you must accept that you won't be staying on the strip. , as you won,t get cheaper i,m afraid.
you will probably struggle to beat these prices even down town. Plaza ,el cortez, and Terribles are all that will really be cheaper.
never heard of a playboy hotel that i can recall
whats you budget and your dates ??????Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

It isn't a hotel , it's a club at the Palms hotel
When we were in Vegas last year I seem to remember they had an opening night or something and they lit the sign up on the hotel for the first timeSame old same old since 20080
