I've heard the Dr Dre ones arent great either or not for the price anyway. I guess the markup was the deciding factor on the choice of product(s).

From Wikipedia;

Monster are primarily known for Audio Cable manufacture, not for headphones. According to their Wiki page, they didn't enter the headphone market until 2008, when they partnered with Dr Dre.

"In 2008, Monster Cable entered the audio headphone business by creating a new headphone line called Beats by Dr. Dre, in partnership with Dr. Dre. In January 2012, Monster Cable and Beats Electronics dissolved the partnership, although the manufacturing agreement will not expire until the end of 2012. "

So what you have here with Dr Dre is a badge-engineered boutique product, made by a firm with no experience in this market until 2008. Style over substance would seem to sum it up perfectly.

Given the choice between a time-honoured maker such as Sennheiser, AKG, Beyer, or Shure, all of which have been making phones since at least the 1970s, I'd choose them over the new kidz on de block anytime.

I want the wireless ones, Sennheiser PXC 310 BT but sadly, don't have the cash right now :-(
I think the Sennheiser HD 202 may have won this one, I just need to plank (hide) them from my dear children!

I said it before, I'll say it again - I don't think you'll go wrong with anything by Sennheiser. I'm definitely a fan.

I moved on to Klipsch and Sony.

£200 for the Sennheiser ie8s and they lasted me 2 years and 2 months before the left ear-piece went, 2 months outside their warranty.

Sounded good, though.

I've just bought a blue set of these, JVC Xtreme Xplosives can be had for £10 off Amazon too if you don't need the remote (think the non remote ones are in Asda or Tesco for £10 too).
Had JVC hx-67 before which were a bit comfier (as they weren't big bass enhanced magnets) but don't come with a remote option. I tried Beats over ears in Manchester airport and the sound couldn't go as loud without the bass distorting.
Doubt you'll find anything better under £15.

i have have CX300 mark II's and they have served me faithfully on the train everyday. They still sound great everytime i put them on with all types of music and spoken podcasts.
Make sure you buy genuine ones though. There are fakes for sale on ebay and amazon marketplace.
