Your account via DD should never get that much in credit (or debit) as long as you submit regular readings, at least every 3 months.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Lots of things should (or should never) happen, but they still don't (or do).

Like I should have been able to ring up and ask for DD payments without having to wait 20 minutes while he tried to get a team leader out of meeting to override the automated (and completely wrong) suggested figure of over £1,000 a month and now I'm waiting for him to call me back.... etc.

The problem with their system is that it suggests the DD figure (and thus in my experience is always wrong), rather than allowing the user to do it themselves online. Maybe it's one of those "nobody else has this problem" situations and I'm just unlucky.

Like you and many others I am going through this and the info from Eon is: all plans are the same? but you are plan 8 and I'm 15?
All hours are the same but it depends on the individual meters?
and finally do not change because of the standing charge because Eon intend to put one on ALL tarriffs?!?
The afternoon cheap rate is ONLY wired to heating and water unless you have a better wireman than I have.
Standing charge for all? take it with a pinch of salt.
Eon like E10 because you cannot switch, ie: no competition, they have you by the short & curlys. If you have E7 then you have some competion and 7 hours is plenty with modern heaters unless you are in the habit of staying up til midnight in midwinter.

It all adds to the confusion.

My bill shows three values. Peak rate, heating, and cheap rate.

My understanding is that cheap rate refers to electricity used on the main house circuit during the cheap period(s). Which period and whether it applies to all periods including the afternoon, I don't know.

Day & Night will apply to anything not wired direct to the circuit in your consumer unit that is connected to the Heat register. So, your 24hr appliance usage switches between Day & Night rates and the Heat is solely for that circuit for the E hours the meter provides e.g. 10.

E10 3 rate tends to have a reduced Night period, often 5 hours and it can sometimes be from times such as 2am.

    Hi huudi

Just thought I'd pop on and try to explain a couple of things.

There are many different types of Economy 10 metering set ups. This is increased when other Restricted Hour Tariff (RHT) meters are added.

As Helena says above, we currently only offer the one Economy 10 tariff in each region.

The different descriptions used (ie plan 8, plan 15 etc) are for our internal admin purposes. Within each region, the actual unit prices will be the same.

The hours the off peak rates are active will vary, though. These will depend on the type of meter and the region.

We've recently re-introduced standing charges on some of our other tariffs but not all. There are exceptions.

Hope this is of interest huudi. Let me know if still not clear as will be happy to try to explain further.
