@Curry_Queen - Amazon also sell the D-Link, and there are a couple of user reviews: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000E5SFA/qid=1112827700/sr=8-6/ref=pd_ka_5/026-2947363-7610043
One point - can the DG834G handle 256-bit WEP?
(Another option might be to look at a USB wireless NIC instead of PCI).0 -

No, the Netgear router only handles 64 and 128 bit (just read that in the adsl report) so no point looking at the D-link card.
What I also found rather interesting in that report was the capability of the various routers to transmit signals over distance and through walls, and the BT 2wire (which this guy has) and the Netgear (mine) are the only ones to penetrate through 4 walls (which it would have had to do) as well as the router being a good 30-40 metres from my wireless PC
I might just go for the WG311 (unless you have a better suggestion) and make sure I download the latest drivers online, rather than from the disc. I haven't yet installed SP2 on the wireless PC so might see how it goes first before doing that."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

@Curry_Queen - don't have any experience to draw on other than with the ASUS and Trust PCI cards and a 3Com USB adapter - so can't judge the WG311.
One thought - I saw that ASUS updated the software for the WL-138G last month. Have you tried the latest? (Set a limit on the amount of hair you're prepared to lose before proceeding with this option!)0 -
Oh I have plenty of hair alright (too much actually LOL!) ... but it's rapidly turning grey through all the stress
I hadn't realised they'd updated the drivers so it's worth giving that a go before shelling out any more money, so thanks for finding that "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

@Curry_Queen - saw this on ebay. This is the Trust PCI card I use. A friend bought it, and one for himself, off ebay about 6 months ago (not sure which trader he bought them from).0
